Watershed collects no personal data, has no accounts, no analytics and no telemetry. Nothing you do in the app is sent to the Publisher.

What the app does send over the internet

To draw the map and run simulations it requests public data from third-party services. Each request contains only what is needed to fetch the data (map-tile coordinates, a bounding box for a query) and the standard technical information any web request carries (your IP address, browser or app version). Those services see that traffic under their own privacy policies:

• Elevation tiles: AWS Open Data (Mapzen terrarium)
• Satellite imagery: the provider shown in the map's attribution (Mapbox, MapTiler or EOX)
• Street map, fonts and sprites: OpenFreeMap
• Historic sites, lakes, rivers, springs and wells: OpenStreetMap via Overpass API servers
• "Read more" links open Wikipedia, Wikidata or OpenStreetMap in your browser

What stays on your computer

• A cache of downloaded terrain tiles, so revisited areas load fast (clear it from "Share & about")
• Your preferences: sound on/off, the "unlock higher detail" choice
• Anything you save with "Save image" goes where you choose

Shareable links contain the camera position, the drawn area and settings, the year and layer toggles, and journey flags. They contain no personal information, but anyone with the link can see that scenario.
