End-User Licence Agreement
Version 1.0 ยท September 2026
Watershed ("the Software") is developed and published by Mazen Altoukhi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("the Publisher"). By installing or using the Software you agree to these terms.
1. Licence
The Publisher grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software on computers you own or control, for any purpose including teaching and commercial presentations, subject to these terms. One purchase covers one person; a school, company or other organisation needs one licence per user, or a site licence from the Publisher.
2. What you may not do
- Redistribute, sell, rent or sublicense the Software or its installer.
- Remove or alter licence notices, attributions or the "About" credits in the Software.
- Reverse engineer the Software except where the law expressly permits it.
- Use the Software to violate the terms of the third-party data services it relies on (see section 5).
3. Ownership
The Software, its name, its icon and its original code and artwork remain the property of the Publisher. This agreement does not transfer any ownership to you.
4. Updates and support
Updates may be provided from time to time at the Publisher's discretion and are covered by this agreement. Support is provided by email on a best-effort basis; there is no guaranteed response time.
5. Third-party data and open-source components
The Software displays map, elevation, imagery and historical data from third parties, each under its own licence, and includes open-source software components. Their notices are listed in the Software's "Share & about" section and in the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES and public/borders/ATTRIBUTION.md files that ship with it. Those licences govern that data and code; nothing in this agreement restricts rights they grant you.
6. Accuracy
Watershed is an educational sandbox. Its simulations of rainfall, flooding, sea level, vegetation and historical travel are simplified, approximate and illustrative. They must not be used for flood-risk assessment, engineering, navigation, emergency planning, insurance or any decision where an error could cause harm or loss.
7. Warranty and liability
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Publisher is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Software, including loss of data or hardware faults caused by running the simulation at settings beyond a computer's capability. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the Software.
8. Refunds
Purchases made through a store (for example itch.io) are governed by that store's refund policy.
9. Termination
This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. On termination you must delete all copies of the Software.
10. Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates. Disputes are subject to the courts of Dubai.
